When I was asked to do a makeover for a friends primary bedroom I started researching immediately all the things i could do in the room to maximize the space. People think because they have a small room that it’s harder to make it functional but I think the opposite. There is less dead space to fill and you can make it feel cozy and inviting.
The couple was pretty easy in their request-use some of their decor that they haven’t been able to display since being married, storage, a gallery wall, and the rest was up to me. I began by making a mood board in Canva. I love being able to visualize what the room will look like and add in pieces as I find them. I started off by adding the paint color, which is Boothbay Grey by Benjamin Moore. Then moved onto the curtains knowing we wanted to keep them in a neutral color. Next, was the bed frame and nightstands. Since I was working with a smaller room I want a bedframe that was more minimalist and didn’t take up a lot of visual space and a metal frame was perfect for the space. I also found an amazing deal on the nightstands from Pottery Barn that can come in a pair. Once you have the big pieces figured out the rest is just about coordinating and finding the right pieces that can come together without being too matchy matchy. A key to making a room feel put together is shopping at more than one store. Check places like At Home, Wayfair, Target, and Home Goods to find pieces that fit your style and budget and trust me it’ll come together. Now let’s get to the good part-the decor links !
